A big congratulations to Ben Joyce on his new role as Frankie Valli in the hit West End musical Jersey Boys at the Trafalgar Theatre London.

Ben won our Young Singer competition in 2017 and since then has been working hard and this year has graduated from drama school this year, will be making his professional stage debut as Frankie Valli.

Ben first started singing Frankie Valli songs at the age of 14 when he heard his mother and grandfather playing music by the singer.

He then joined a tribute group called "Valli Boys" and performed at a number of performances.

The 2017 Welsh Musical Theatre Young Singer Of The Year compeition final was held at the Swansea Taliesin theatre on April 22nd.

Lauren Williams, a soprano from Glynneath, was the winner of the Choir’s 2020 Dunvant Young Singer of the Year competition.

Lauren was invited to perform at her fourth consecutive ABRSM High Scorers concert, having scored an unprecedented 100% in her recent grade.

In 2017 she was awarded the Jeffrey Squires Memorial Award by ABRSM; she continues her studies on the Vocal and Opera Studies Course at Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama with the dream of becoming a successful classical singer.

Osian Clarke

Osian Clarke, a tenor, is 19 years old and a former Head Boy at Ysgol Dyffryn Aman in Ammanford.

He has just completed the first year of a BMus degree course in Vocal Performance and Opera Studies under the tuition of Ryland Davies at the Royal Academy of Music in London.

Osian is much in demand as a soloist and through LARS he has been able to significantly develop his solo singing opportunities.  Performing at many prestigious events, a highlight was the WW2 Liberation Concert in the city of s’Hertogenbosch, Holland in 2018.

Dunvant Male Choir were pleased to perform at a wedding reception at Oldwalls on the Gower Peninsula.

Our choristers entertained guests before the happy couple arrived to the sounds of "Charlie from the Chocolate factory" and "You'll never walk alone".  Further entertainment included many traditional choral items and some personal requests.

The choir was conducted by D. Huw Rees and accompanied by Tony Phipps.

A sombre start to 2021, as we received the sad news that Top Tenor, Maurice O'Brien passed away in the early hours of this morning. Maurice recently became a life member of the choir, despite suffering with his health in recent years.

Our thoughts and best wishes are with Linda and all the family at this sad time.
